In class, we have been reading the book Rotten Teeth . Rotten Teeth is about a first grader named Melissa who was trying to find the perfect item to bring to school for show and tell. Her brother suggested to Melissa that she brings her Dad's bottle of rotten teeth for show and tell (her Dad had a dentist office in her house).

Below was our big thinking question for the story. Students were also asked to find a deep thinking connection to the story.

Afterwards, students shared with partners what their deep thinking connection was to the story. A deep thinking connection usually involves making a personal connection to the character, plot, picture or feeling in a book. Connections bridge understanding between our own lives and what we are reading.

Next, students were given the below task. First they made puppets of themselves. Next they practised using their puppets to explain their personal connections to the story. Finally students performed in front of the green screen. Their task was to explain to Melissa (the character in Rotten Teeth) their personal connection.
