Instant Feedback about 2D Shapes and Angles with QR Codes

Students have been learning about 2D shapes as well as angles (right angles as well as angles greater and less than right angles). During this lesson, students reviewed the names of 2D shapes as well as angles based on clues about their characteristics.

Step 1
Together, we went through the slideshow below guessing the names of 2D and 3D shapes based on clues. It got students thinking about the properties of these shapes.

Step 2
Students were paired up in partners. Each pair was given an iPad and an answer sheet. Around the room there were ten stations. Each station contained several clues to a 2D shape or angle, as well as a QR code. Students discussed the clues with their partner, then recorded their guess on their answer sheet. You can view all ten stations and QR codes here. 

Step 3
Students checked their answer by scanning the QR code. The QR code launched the answer to the clues located on It gave the answer as well as provided additional information. For example, one of the answers was: parallelogram.
