Fiction and Non-Fiction: Similarities and Differences

posted Sep 22, 2014, 5:06 PM by Patrick Johnson
Today students compared the text features of fiction and non-fiction books.

Together, we compared two big books: one was fiction and one was non-fiction. We compared the covers, then each page and filled in a Venn diagram indicating the similarities and differences of the text features. Afterwards, students were grouped into partners where they compared a fiction and non-fiction book of their own. At the end of the lesson, students returned to the carpet and discussed some of the similarities and differences they found between their fiction and non-fiction books.
