Dolphins: A Class Book

In Writer's Workshop, we have begun working on writing reports. Today we researched, as a class, about dolphins. We read information about dolphins and students identified the most important facts from the information. Then, students identified the key words for each fact. Using the key words, students paraphrased their fact with a partner and each partner was responsible for producing one class page for our class book. Students also spent quite a bit of time orally rehearsing their fact in an activity called: What's the Story so Far? This allowed students to practise paraphrasing their information and add their own details.
