The Little Prince: Word Art

Today we finished up to chapter 7 of The Little Prince. I modeled two reading strategies during our reading today. One was Use Beginning and End Sounds for reading words and the other was Monitor and Fix up. Readers' are always reading and trying to make sense of what they read. They ask what is the story about? What is happening in the story? How can I describe the main character? Does this story make sense? If we have trouble with understanding these questions we need to use a Fix Up strategy to fix our understanding of the book. One such strategy is Back-up and Re-read. After the read aloud, students brainstormed words to describe the Prince. Together, we made art out of these words:
