Spelling Unfamiliar Words

In writer's workshop today we talked about how we want people to be able to read our work. We need to write words in such a way that people can read our stories. When spelling unfamiliar words, writers say the word slowly, stretching the word out and writing all of the sounds that they hear.

Learning Goal: We are learning to spell unfamiliar words.
Succuss Criteria:
I CAN
1. Say the word, then stretch the word out by saying it slowly.
2. Then write one sound.
3. Then re-read what I wrote (this is key) so far and again say the rest of the word slowly.
4. Write the next sound down and repeat.

We will be practicing this strategy in our writing.
