Using the Socrative Response System to Review Pictographs

Students, in pairs, were answering questions about pictographs using the Socrative response system on the iPad. Socrative allows students to enter an answer on the iPad (or any web enabled device) and their answer will appear on the projector at the front of the class.

First students were show a question about pictographs.

Next students discussed the graph and the answer with a partner.

Then students entered the answer on their iPads.

Finally, when everyone had locked in their answers, we revealed all answers on the projector. For a couple of the questions, we ordered the answers from least to greatest and circled the answer that appeared most often (introducing the data management term mode). When the answers varied, we analyzed and discussed the question further to make sure that everyone understood why the answer was correct.
