Wonderful Guest Readers in our Classroom

As part of Literacy Day, we had three guests speakers in our class. Maple Grove's VP Ms. Belanger read to students in the morning (and we would like to thank her for taking time out of her day to come read to us). Firefighter S. Hoffman read to students during the middle block and RCMP Constable Zachar read to students during our last block.

Firefighter Hoffman read a story about fire safety to students and answered questions about her job and fire safety (please review your fire safety plan and meeting place with your children). One of the things we learned was that she was part of the recovery efforts after the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Centre. She was a terrific guest and we are very grateful for reading to our class and for her heroic efforts that her job entails.

RCMP Constable Zachar read a story about the history of the RCMP to our class. He also answered questions and talked about his job. We learned that he works in the RCMP protective services division for VIPs. Constable Zachar also brought items for students to examine (protective vest, handcuffs, RCMP badge). We would like to thank Constable Zachar for reading to our class and for the heroic efforts his job entails.
