Describing Patterns

Today students were given the following pattern task: Create a pattern that uses 2 shapes and 3 colours. Describe your pattern as many ways as you can.

Afterwards, we created the criteria of awesome for describing patterns based on all of the different ways we saw.
-Using letters (AB, or AABB etc)
-What type of pattern: repeating, growing or shrinking 
-Circle and describe the pattern core (e.g. orange square, black square)
-Listing attributes that are changing (colour, shape, size, position, direction, number of)
-Describe how each attribute changed (colour: orange, red)
-Describe the pattern using both images and words
