Welcome to our class blog!

Welcome to a new school year (although a bit different from previous years). First of all I would like to thank all of our students for a successful first week. We have been establishing new routines as well as establishing our classroom community.

E-MAIL and the REMIND MESSAGING APP

The best way to reach me is through email (pmjohnson@scdsb.on.ca). If there is a change in your child's home routine (for example not taking the bus or another adult picking them up), please notify the office as well as sending me an e-mail. Shortly (in the next couple of weeks) I will be sending information out to connect with the REMIND MESSAGING APP.

CLASS BLOG and GOOGLE CLASSROOM

I will also be posting information from our class on this class blog. We will also be establishing our Google Classroom shortly.

A BIT ABOUT ME

I am a graduate of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto (Bachelor of Education, Primary/Junior division). I also received my undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto (Bachelor of Honours in Science, Psychology/ Philosophy).

I have over 30 years of experience working with children. Before I became a teacher I worked at the Holland Bloorview Centre in Toronto, a research and rehabilitation centre for children with disabilities, as well as at the Bloorview School, which is on site. I also worked at various camps in Ontario for children with disabilities, such as Camp Kodiak, St. Albans Boys and Girls Club and Easter Seal's Merrywood Camp. I have always enjoyed working with children and look forward to my 19th year of teaching. I taught for 11 years at Goodfellow Public School in their primary division and this is my 8th year of teaching at Maple Grove!

My interests include playing piano and guitar, singing, competitive open water swimming and technology. I have two sons. Owen is 16 years old and Parker will be 14 in October.

Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,
P. Johnson
