Dash Steam Project: Learning Coding, Music and Math

This is our latest STEAM coding project using Dash. Dash is a programmable robot. In this picture, you can see our goals. 

We coded dash to play music using his xylophone attachment. This is a picture of creating a song using Xylo iPad App. You can also include motion to go with the music. 

I asked that each bar have the same number of notes and that students tally the total number of notes that Dash played. This is a repeated addition/multiplication activity. In this picture you can see how students 'did the math' for their musical coding. 

As an extra math step, students could code Dash's movements into 2D shapes if they chose to.
